Immigration to Canada Through Provincial Nominee Programs (PNP)

Canada has 13 provinces and almost every province has its own immigration programs (Provincial Nominee Program), which aim to meet the economic and demographic needs of the province.

Provincial Nominee Programs (PNP) are for candidates who:

  • Have skills, education and work to contribute to the economy of a particular province or territory.
  • Want to live in that province.
  • Want to become permanent residents of Canada.

Each Canadian province and territory has its own immigration “streams” immigration programs that target certain groups) and requirements. For example, in a program stream, provinces and territories may target:

  • Students
  • Business people
  • Skilled workers
  • Semi-skilled workers

The nomination from the province provides a candidate with additional 600 points in the Federal Express Entry system, and guarantees issuing an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for obtaining PR status in Canada. Therefore, Provincial Nominee Programs provide pathways to Canada for those candidates, who do not have a sufficient CRS score for the ITA issuance.
