Canadian Citizenship Application

To apply for Canadian Citizenship, a candidate must meet the following criteria:

  • Be a Permanent Resident of Canada.
  • Have resided in Canada for 3 out of the last 5 years*.
  • Have filed a tax return.
  • Prove language skills.
  • Pass a citizenship test (all applicants between 18 to 54 years of age).

* Each day spent physically in Canada as a temporary resident or protected person before becoming a permanent resident within the last five years will count as one half-day, with a maximum of 365 days, towards your physical presence;

In the interim, the average processing time for citizenship applications is approximately 12 months. If your application is incomplete or you do not provide sufficient proof that, you have met the minimum residency requirements, your application will be returned or denied.
